Denis Hurley Centre shares tribute to Archbishop Desmond Tutu

Director for the Denis Hurley Centre, Raymond Perrier shared a touching tribute to Archbishop Desmond Tutu.

AS news of Archbishop Desmond Tutu’s passing broke, Durban’s Denis Hurley Centre shared a touching tribute to commemorate Tutu.

The director of the centre, Raymond Perrier recalled Tutu’s work in the church.

“Archbishop Denis Hurley and Archbishop Desmond Tutu were great friends and fellow champions for justice. They shared a belief that the church must fulfil its mission to ‘speak truth to power’, whatever the colour or political background is of those who perpetrate injustice against God’s people,” said Perrier.

“It’s wonderful that so many people care about the poor on Christmas Day. They care about the poor all year round and always try to give a welcome to our homeless brothers and sisters as Mary and Joseph were welcomed in Bethlehem,” he said.

“We continue to served meals every Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday, Saturday and Sunday throughout the festive period. Volunteers are always welcome,” concluded Perrier.
