Suspect shoots himself in botched Glenwood hijacking

The suspect is believed to have approached the motorist under the guise of needing directions.

A SUSPECT landed up in hospital under police guard after a botched hijacking on Ferguson Road, on Thursday, December 9 at about 13:30.

SAPS spokesperson, Colonel Thembeka Mbele said the complainant of the hijacked vehicle alleged that the suspect jumped into his vehicle and drove towards Allan Paton Road, with him in it.

“While the suspect was driving, the complainant pulled up the handbrake and stopped the vehicle. He then fought with the suspect and, during the scuffle, the suspect shot himself in the right leg,” said Mbele.
