Shots fired in central Durban mall

Six suspects are at large after an armed robbery at the mall.

PARAMEDICS and Police were called to the scene of an armed robbery at a well known shopping mall in central Durban this morning, November 22.

Spokesperson for Durban Central SAPS, Captain Muzi Maphumulo confirmed that six suspects entered a clothing store in the mall at about 10:00. Two of the suspects were armed.

“Staff were instructed to lay down, while cellphones and bags were taken. While they were leaving the scene, a security approached them in the foyer. One armed male discharged his pistol at the guard, but shot his co-suspect. All suspects still managed to escape in a white Etios,” said Maphumulo.

A case of business robbery will be opened for investigation.

Spokesperson for Emer-G-Med paramedics, Kyle Van Reeneen said they rushed to the scene after reports of a shooting incident.
