Durban SAPS shares safety tips with elderly

The outreach campaign was held to commemorate Heritage Month. 

THE Durban Central SAPS hosted a crime awareness campaign for senior citizens on Sunday, September 26.

Spokesperson for the Durban Central SAPS, Captain Muzi Maphumulo said the campaign, supported by the Department of Safety and Liaison, the Department of Social Development and the eThekwini Municipality, was held at the St Andrew’s Musical Centre.

“Sgt Nolungisa Magwala and Sgt Lungelwa Mngonyama touched on aspects of rape and safety tips when carrying cash and when using Atms. (The elderly) were also advised to report all crime,” he said.

The campaign was held to commemorate Heritage Month.

“Durban Central SAPS is opening hands to the community to show the spirit of Ubuntu this Heritage Month. Walking sticks and special parcels were given to the (elderly) as well,” added Maphumilo.
