Sad farewell as Morningside café closes its doors

Situated at Mitchell Park, the trendy café was a favourite lunch spot for locals. 

POPULAR Morningside restaurant, Blue Zoo Cafe closed its doors last week after 24 years in the business.

The owners, Larry and Nikki Southwood made the announcement on the cafe’s Facebook page on Tuesday, September 14.

“It is with heavy hearts that we announce the closure of our Blue Zoo Cafe. Despite great determination to see ourselves through these trying times, and the end of our lease, regretfully we are unable to keep our doors open,” read the post.

“To all our loyal customers and patrons, thank you for your continued support over the past 24 years. It has been our greatest privilege serving the community. To all of our beloved staff, many of whom have been with us since the beginning and saw these trying and difficult times through by our side, thank you from the bottom of our hearts,” continued the post.
 
The post racked up more than 120 reactions from the community. Situated at Mitchell Park, the trendy café was a favourite lunch spot for locals.
