Heroin worth more than R2.3m seized in Glenwood

After stopping the suspect and searching the bag, Police found packs of pure heroin powder.

A SUSPECT was caught red-handed with a whopping R2 340 000 heroin package in Glenwood on Saturday, September 18.

SAPS spokesperson, Captain Simphiwe Mhlongo said the arrest was made by Hawks members from the Durban Serious Organised Crime Investigation, Crime Intelligence and the Durban Metro Police Drug Team. They arrested a 47-year-old suspect for dealing in drugs.

“Police received information about a suspect who was distributing heroin in various places in the province. An intelligence driven operation was conducted in Glenwood and the suspect was caught red-handed,” said Mhlongo.

“He was stopped and searched. Upon searching the bag, police found packs of pure heroin powder with a street value of approximately R2 340 000,” he added.

The suspect was arrested and charged for dealing in drugs. The suspect is expected to appear at the Durban Magistrate’s Court on Monday, September 20.
