King mvrk is doing it for greatness

Speaking about some of the challenges he has faced, Ndebele said he went through a suicidal and depression phase. He said the situation at home took a turn for the worse when they invested R45 000 in a scheme and lost all the money.

DAVENPORT rapper, Nkosi Ndebele (33), known as King MVRK, recently released his new song titled Amachankura (money) featuring Djaykams.

Ndebele said he began rapping in 2006 when he was in a church choir.

“That’s where my love of music was unearthed. I have always loved music but never knew how to go about writing my own lyrics. As I was living in a Christian household we weren’t allowed to listen to secular music, it was strictly gospel, but I did enjoy hip hop as well,” he said.

He said they embarked on various outreach initiatives at church where they would go out and deliver pamphlets and invite people for the services.

“That’s where I met Luthando Hlengwa and Nkosi Sikhakhane. They started reciting the verse of Method Man song, called I get so high and they were surprised at how I recited the song. They told me I should rap. We started a group called Young Royals that time, but it didn’t work out,” he said.

Musician, Nkosi Ndebele ‘King MVRK’ releases a new song.

Speaking about some of the challenges he has faced, Ndebele said he went through a suicidal and depression phase. He said the situation at home took a turn for the worse when they invested R45 000 in a scheme and lost all the money.

“I overcame my depression, I thank God for the friends that I grew up within church as they helped me snap out of it. Being alone is the worst thing you can do when you are going through something,” he said.

Ndebele thanked God for the struggles because it contributed to the content he can now write about.

His song is available on all social media platforms @KING Mvrk_rsa.
