AN abandoned baby girl, believed to be between four and eight weeks old, was rescued after a security guard heard her crying on August 23.
Metro Police spokesperson, Senior Superintendent Parbhoo Sewpersad said the security guard heard the baby crying and reported it to the police who were conducting foot patrols in the area.
“She was found in the Sunken Gardens between concrete blocks. She has been taken to a place of safety, ” he said.

According to Sewpersad the Metro Search and Rescue Unit was also called in to assist.
“The officers rushed to purchase new clothes for the baby along with items to bath her. We applaud the police officers for going above the call of duty to care for the little one after the trauma she had been through,” added Sewpersad.
