Men arrested for drug and firearm possession in Sydenham

According to Captain Nqobile Gwala, three suspects, aged between 22 and 50 years, were placed under arrest for being in unlawful possession of firearms, ammunition and drugs.

THREE men were arrested after they were found with drugs and firearms in their possession during an intelligence-driven operation by the Durban Flying Squad in Sydenham. 

According to spokesperson for KwaZulu-Natal SAPS, Captain Nqobile Gwala, the men were found with heroin and mandrax tablets with a street value of around R1000.

“After an initial investigation, the police officers immediately moved in on the suspects. Upon searching the men, police found three firearms and 139 rounds of ammunition in their possession. The suspects, aged between 22 and 50 years, were placed under arrest for being in unlawful possession of firearms, ammunition and drugs,” she said.

Capt Gwala said the suspects will be appearing in the Durban Magistrate’s Court soon.
