The mammograms are available to women who do not have medical aid and who meet the organisation's criteria.

AS South Africa celebrates Women’s Month in August, international breast cancer support group, Reach for Recovery is offering a limited number of sponsored mammograms.

The mammograms are available to women who do not have medical aid, and who meet the organisation’s criteria.

In a statement, Nirri Moethilalh, of the Durban Reach for Recovery branch said they have been active in South Africa for 54 years.

“We are a voluntary organisation that renders emotional and practical support service to persons and their families that has been diagnosed with breast cancer. Although we do promote breast cancer awareness, and early detection, through talks and awareness events, our primary focus is on providing a service that is post-diagnosis. All our volunteers are breast cancer survivors themselves, so have been through the journey of diagnosis, surgery, treatment and recovery,” said Moethilalh.
