Durban supermarket looted

A SUPERMARKET in the Point area was looted on Saturday, July 10.

This, as volatile protest action continues across KwaZulu-Natal following the arrest of former president Jacob Zuma.

Captain Muzi Maphumulo, spokesperson for the Durban Central SAPS, said there was one person arrested for looting.

“There was a looting attempt in the Point area at the [supermarket]. A person was arrested,” he said

There have also been videos circulating on social media alluding to looting in the Durban CBD.

In one of the videos, a crowd of people can been seen rushing out of a supermarket on, what is alleged to be, Dr Pixley KaSeme Street in Durban, on Saturday, July 10.

However, according to Maphumulo, there was no looting in the Durban CBD.

“When members were patrolling there was no looting taking place – there was no positive looting in the area,” he added.
