One killed in Springfield shooting

The man was declared deceased by paramedics on the scene.

A MAN was killed in a shooting at a business premises on Intersite Avenue in Springfield Park on Thursday, 1 July at 11:27. 

Shawn Herbst, spokesperson for Netcare 911 paramedics, said they responded to the incident. 

“When medics arrived on the scene they found an adult male unresponsive on the floor,” said Herbst.

He said the man was declared deceased at the scene.

“On assessment, an adult male was found to have sustained a gunshot wound to his head. Circumstances leading up to the shooting are not known,” added Herbst.

Spokesperson for Emer-G-Med paramedics, Kyle Van Reenen said the man was approximately 20 years of age.  

“The South African Police Services will be investigating the incident accordingly,” added Van Reenen. 

SAPS did not send their comment at the time this article was published.
