Iqraa Trust empowers Berea learners

The Iqraa Trust Knowledge Centre has been established by Iqraa Trust for the purpose of enhancing education in schools.

LEARNERS from Hunt Road Secondary School recently received key knowledge on how to excel academically and in their chosen career paths. The initiative, which formed part of local organisation, Iqraa Trust’s training programme, was hosted in partnership with the Young Leaders Academy.

Titled, The Keys to Excel in Education and Career, the programme was held at the Iqraa Trust Knowledge Centre in Glenwood.

The interactive programme was conducted over a two-week period and covered various topics such as: the science of memory, attention, connection and recall, the art of reading and understanding concepts, how to develop self-discipline and avoid procrastination, critical thinking – generating ideas, questions, solutions, analysis and creativity, using the power of words to gather support and sway people, and how to make smart notes and neural diagrams.

On completion of the programme, Iqraa and the Young Leaders Academy held a graduation and certificates were awarded to the learners.

The function was attended by Advocate Mohamed Vahed, director of Young Leaders Academy, Brian Mkhize, principal of Hunt Road Secondary School, Dr Mahmoud Youssef Baker, Kathija Rahim, Candice Govender and Leanne Naicker from Iqraa Trust.

The Iqraa Trust Knowledge Centre has been established by Iqraa Trust for the purpose of enhancing education in schools. The centre is also being used as a community hall for public lectures, seminars, e-learning programmes, workshops and training for parents, teachers, students, the NGO sector and for other educational purposes.

The programs/workshops that were scheduled for July will be postponed to August.
