Vehicle recovered after Morningside hijacking

After an hour of tracking, the hijacked vehicle was eventually recovered in the Inanda area.

A STOLEN vehicle was recovered after a Morningside resident was hijacked by five armed suspects on Eleventh Avenue on Friday evening.

Tyron Powell of Marshall Security said they responded to the scene at approximately 17:28.

“Our Emergency Dispatch Centre were alerted of a hijacking that took place on Eleventh Avenue in Morningside. We immediately dispatched armed response officers to the scene,” he said.

“Upon further investigation it was established that a homeowner’s son, on Eleventh Avenue, was hijacked of his Toyota Etios by five armed suspects,” added Powell

He said the vehicle was fitted with a tracking device.

“It was later established that the vehicle was fitted with a Netstar tracking device. Our Special Operation team members were activated to assist Netstar ground teams and responded,” he said.

“After an hour of tracking, the hijacked vehicle was eventually recovered in the Inanda area by Netstar ground team, SAPS and our Special Operation team. Well done to all involved in the successful recovery,” concluded Powell.
