More than R20k cocaine recovered in Morningside drug bust

The suspect was arrested at his place of residence on Percy Osborne Road in Morningside.

A MAN landed in the dock today (Thursday, 13 May) after he was arrested with more than 200 pieces of rock cocaine, valued at an estimated steet value of R22 500 on Wednesday, 12 May.

Provincial spokesperson for the SAPS, Colonel Thembeka Mbele said the suspect was arrested during an operation at 11am at his place of residence on Percy Osborne Road in Morningside.

“The police officers who are devoted to eradicating drugs in the province received information about a man in possession of drugs and proceeded to the man’s house. The search was conducted and the police recovered 225 pieces of rock cocaine worth R22 500. The suspect was arrested and detained at Durban Central police station,” said 

The 27-year-old man was arrested by police officers from the Provincial Drug and Firearm Unit.

He is set to appear in the Durban Magistrate’s Court.
