Auction to raise funds for CANSA

All proceeds from the auction and raffle will go to CANSA.

ARTWORK by resident artists at Musgrave’s Caister Lodge as well as a beautiful string of pearls are on sale in aid of the Cancer Association of South Africa (CANSA).

Resident, Cynthia Jones, who frequently hosts fundraisers to assist CANSA, even during last year’s lockdown, said this will be her last venture as this year is her 90th birthday, and she will be retiring!

Cynthia said two paintings by Delyse Stevenson, a canvas with a flying bird and a painting of a small vase of flowers as well as a large oil on canvas of a vase of flowers and two small collages of underwater scenes by Diane Sampson will be up for auction.

“I will be having a silent auction for these paintings. I will have a box for people to put in their secret bids with nothing below R100 so it should be fun. All for a good cause,” said Cynthia.

She said Carol Ditz, a fundraiser for CANSA, who has recently been hosting cake sales to raise funds, asked a friend to donate a cake and got more than she bargained for! “Carol was given a lovely string of pearls donated by her friend who is a jeweller.

“The pearls are worth R2,500 and I will be selling raffle tickets, two for R50, with this being the prize,” said Cynthia.

All proceeds will go to CANSA. To enter the silent auction or to buy raffle tickets, the public can contact Cynthia on cynthiajones@caisterlodge.co.za.

Carol is also arranging a cake sale with all cakes donated by friends of hers and sold on the Caister Verandah on Friday for Cancer as well.

We had a raffle of a beautiful collage done by another artist, Judy Edgar, who is also a Resident.

Riverside Hotel gave us a weekend for two and our receptionist won this and is thrilled as she recently married and this will be like a mini honeymoon.

Another resident, Peter Barrett, has organised for two of our good swimmers to do a swim in our pool and Residents sponsored them for x amount per lap.
