Crystal meth worth R31 000 seized in Stamford Hill

The total value of the recovered drugs is R31 500.

A 39-YEAR-OLD suspect is appearing before the Durban Magistrate’s Court today (18 March) for possession of drugs.

This comes after an arrest on Wednesday, 17 March.

According to Col Thembeka Mbele from KwaZulu-Natal SAPS communications, at around 1.30pm, police officers from the Provincial Drug and Firearm Unit acted on information regarding a suspect who was supplying drugs in the Stamford Hill area.

“A takedown was conducted at a lodge and police officers pounced on the unsuspecting man. Upon searching the lodge, police recovered a large plastic packet containing crystal meth, five bags of crystal meth and 105 pieces of rock cocaine,” she said.

She said the total value of the recovered drugs is R31 500.

The suspect was placed under arrest for possession of drugs.

Acting provincial commissioner for KwaZulu-Natal, Maj Genl Thulani Gonya, welcomed the arrest of the suspect.
