Burglary suspects appear in Durban court

The men were arrested for being in possession of housebreaking implements and for burglary.

BURGLARY suspects made their first appearance in the Durban Magistrate’s Court on Wednesday following their arrest in the Durban CBD.

According to Capt Nqobile Gwala from provincial SAPS, Durban Central police officers were patrolling the CBD when they received a report of a burglary at a business premises.

“They proceeded to Alice Street where a suspect was spotted fleeing the scene. Police immediately apprehended the man. The second suspect who fled the scene prior to the police’s arrival was pointed out and was pursued. Both men were found in possession of a bolt cutter and a pick,” she said.

The men were arrested for being in possession of housebreaking implements and for burglary.

Acting provincial commissioner for KwaZulu-Natal, Maj Gen Thulani Gonya, welcomed the arrest of the burglars.
