Student murder suspect nabbed by Durban detectives

The suspect was arrested on Wednesday morning, 10 March in Isipingo. 

DURBAN Central detectives have arrested a 21-year-old suspect for murder. He is expected to appear in the Durban Magistrate’s Court on Friday.

According to Capt Muzi Maphumulo from Durban Central, on 7 January at around 4.50pm, a 19-year-old student was brutally attacked at a student residence in Yusuf Dadoo Street, Durban.

“He was fatally stabbed in his jugular vein and died at the scene. The suspect, who was another student, according to witnesses, fled the scene. The investigating officer utilised informers and also used extensive investigation, tracing the suspect to the Isipingo area,” said Maphumulo.

The suspect was arrested on Wednesday morning, 10 March.

“The suspect will be charged with murder and is expected to appear in the Durban Magistrate’s Court on Friday. The good investigative skills of the member are appreciated,” said Maphumulo.
