Robin Hood Foundation sends love to frontliners

The non-profit organisation has sent nearly 800 care packs into the community to frontline staff at various hospitals in and around Durban and KZN.

IN the spirit of the month of love, The Robin Hood Foundation packed and distributed care packs in February to share a little love.

The non-profit organisation sent nearly 800 care packs into the community to frontline staff at various hospitals in and around Durban and KZN, including Netcare Parklands Hospital, Queen Nandi Hospital and even as far out as The Bay, Ngwelezana Hospital in Empageni last month.

Another distribution will go out to Netcare St Augustine’s Hospital, Addington Hospital and St Giles in the next few weeks, and there are plans to also support the Frontline Friends community initiative with a further 3000 care packs.

Chairlady and founder of The Robin Hood Foundation, Cindy Norcott, said: “This past year has not been an easy one on so many of us in the face of this Covid-19 storm and in particular, our frontline workers, nurses, doctors and hospital staff who are in the eye of the storm each and every single day. We have realised that for frontline workers, their daily life has become immeasurably more difficult with the extra strain of the Covid pandemic. They are the true heroes in the struggle. They are facing the virus head on, having to be compassionate as well as productive and effective under the most challenging circumstances. It is part of the human condition to want to be recognised and appreciated and during this tough time, we wanted to show these frontline workers our appreciation and our gratitude for everything that they are sacrificing in order to save lives.”

Simphiwe Nene, Netcare Parklands Hospital nursing services manager, commented: “Our nurses will be going to Albert Luthuli Hospital for their Covid vaccines in the next few weeks which will be a great help to keep them healthy if a third wave hits. The cases have dropped significantly in the last few weeks however December and January were particularly harrowing months. The gifts and good wishes were so greatly appreciated by our team, thank you Robin Hood Foundation.”
