Child (12) in critical condition after bicycle accident in Glenwood

The boy suffered critical injuries and was rushed to hospital.

A CHILD is in a critical condition after he was injured in a bicycle accident on the corner of Lena Ahrens Road and Willowvale Road just before 6am today (17 February). 

Garrith Jamieson, an advanced life support paramedic, said paramedics arrived on the scene to find that a boy had been riding his bicycle with his father when he hit a pothole on the roadway.

“The child sustained critical injuries and advanced life paramedics worked to stabilise the child before rushing him off to a hospital,” said Jamieson.

At this stage the events leading up to the accident are unknown however the Umbilo South African Police Service station were on the scene and will be investigating further.
