Support PinkDrive initiatives

BREAST cancer Public Benefit Organisation, PinkDrive, has once again started assisting the Department of Health with high risk screening and testing, but they cannot do this without help from sponsors or corporates.

Janice Benecke, KZN administrator, said with 4 February being World Cancer Day the organisation would like to assist with outreach for the medically unemployed, under strict Covid-19 rules and regulations.

“We are appealing for corporates or sponsors to take PinkDrive on board, and together we can continue with the great work that we do,” she said.

Janice said as the Covid-19 pandemic sweeps across the country, government medical facilities are closing their cancer facilities.

“Cancer screening must not be overlooked during the current pandemic. Covid-19 has dramatically impacted the screening and treatment of non-communicable diseases such as cancer. While the lockdown bought some time to bolster health resources, it is now setting up South Africa for even greater mortality from non-Covid illnesses such as breast, cervical and prostate cancer. Donations will allow PinkDrive to provide mammograms, papsmears, prostate and clinical breast examinations,” she said.
