Two arrested following shootout, attempted hijacking in Durban

A taxi driver was held up while waiting for a client in Che Guevara Road.

TWO suspects were arrested after they attempted to hijack a taxi in Che Guevara Road.

According to Capt Pumzile Makaula from Umbilo SAPS, a Taxify driver responded to a request to pick up a passenger and while he was waiting for the client to get in the car, a man came from across the road and pointed a firearm at the driver.

“The man told the driver to get in the back of the vehicle, and he got in the car with a woman. The driver managed to run away after a scuffle with the front passenger. He ran to a nearby petrol station and asked a Blue security guard who was driving out of the garage to assist,” said Makaula.
