Woman caught with Umbilo man’s stolen goods

lt is suspected men driving around in a Toyota Quantum have been involved in other armed robbery cases in Umbilo.

A WOMAN was arrested in King Dinizulu (Berea) Road recently for being in possession of stolen goods.

According to Capt Pumzile Makaula from Umbilo SAPS, this comes after an armed robbery on 14 January at around 5am near King Edward Hospital.

“According to the complainant, he was busy offloading goods from a trailer after having arrived with the goods from Johannesburg. lt is alleged that a white Toyota Quantum parked behind him and four men jumped out, pointed a firearm at him and took all the goods, mainly duvet covers,” said Makaula.

She said an investigation by the Umbilo Task Team led to the recovery of the stolen goods and a delivery of some of the goods was intercepted on King Dinizulu Road.

“According to the suspect, a 35-year-old woman, she bought the goods from a white Quantum. She said she has previously bought other goods from the men driving this vehicle. The rest of the stolen goods were recovered at her house in KwaMashu,” said Makaula.

The woman was arrested for being in possession of stolen property.

“Police are on the lookout for this Toyota Quantum. lt is suspected the men using this vehicle have been involved in other armed robbery cases in Umbilo, mainly robbing trucks,” said Makaula.
