Group gives hope to Durban’s unemployed

A group has been created to support those in the community who are currently unemployed.

A WHATSAPP group has been created to support those in the community who are currently unemployed.

Heather Roos from the Bulwer Safety and Urban Regeneration Forum said during this time, people were feeling hopeless after a tough year, and some had lost their jobs.

“People are unemployed and this can lead to depression. Crime goes up as people are desperate, and we had to think of something that could help those in need in the community,” she said.

She said a WhatsApp group was created which people could join, and any business in the community could utilise people on the group for employment opportunities.

“We urge people to support the community and try to employ those on the group looking for work. Even if it is for the short-term, and businesses are looking for casual staff over Christmas, at least it can give them hope,” she said, adding they were also looking for businesses to join the group.
