Wanted suspect caught by Brighton Beach police
The suspect had been on the run since the rape and robbery took place in 2018.
DETECTIVES at the Brighton Beach Family Violence, Child Protection and Sexual Offences (FCS) Unit together with the Crime Intelligence Unit arrested a suspect who was wanted for a case of rape and common robbery that was committed on 28 July 2018.
The FCS Unit made an appeal this month for information on the whereabouts of the man, Mhlonishwa Mkhize, (35), who allegedly raped and robbed a 43-year-old woman after alleging to want to start a relationship with her, and providing false details about himself.
The suspect had been on the run since the incident took place, and was arrested by the unit and Crime Intelligence on 27 November at Jacobs Men’s Hostel.
Mkhize appeared in the Durban Magistrate’s Court on 30 November and was remanded in custody until 15 December for bail application.
