Alleged dealer nabbed in Durban with drugs valued at R46 000

The suspects appeared in the Durban Magistrate’s Court on Tuesday for possession of drugs.

A 38-year-old man was arrested for dealing in drugs after he was found in possession of crystal meth and methcathonon in a flat on Gillepsie Street, Durban.

Col Thembeka Mbele from provincial SAPS said officers from the Provincial Drug and Firearm Unit recovered drugs to the value of R46 000 at the flat during one of their sting operations on Monday, following the arrest of another drug dealer in Lamontville.

In the first operation, which lead police to the arrest of the Durban suspect, officers unit were monitoring the drug activity on Mhlongo Road in Lamontville.

The target area was identified and a sting operation was also held on Monday.

“A 31-year-old suspect was placed under arrest after he was found in possession of 15 plastic packets containing cocaine powder, 23 plastic packets of crystal meth as well as 18 capsules of heroin. The total value of the recovered drugs is estimated at R11 000,” said Mbele.

The suspects appeared in the Durban Magistrate’s Court on Tuesday for possession of drugs.

KwaZulu-Natal Provincial Commissioner, Lt Gen Khombinkosi Jula praised the team for the arrest of the suspects and the recovery of the drugs.
