Gang member arrested for break-ins at Berea Centre

Stations that had cases involving this vehicle can contact the investigating officer at Umbilo SAPS.

A MAN was arrested for business robbery following a break-in in progress at Berea Centre at the weekend. 

According to Capt Pumzile Makaula from Umbilo SAPS, on Saturday at around 2am, police officers received a complaint of a break-in in progress at the shopping centre. 

“The security guard reported that four men had arrived in a white Polo Vivo and were breaking into the shops.”

“The quick response of the members resulted in the arrest of one suspect and the recovery of the Polo,” she said.

The other three suspects managed to flee in different directions out of the centre.

The Umbilo Task Team is doing a follow-up investigation to attempt to locate these men. 

Investigations will be done to determine if the suspect were involved in other business robberies.

Registration of the vehicle was NJ 97021 and a spare number plate ND 483 835 was found in the boot of the car.
