Glenmore armed robbers fire shots at police during chase

Umbilo SAPS is investigating an armed robbery at a shop in Fielden Drive on Monday.

UMBILO SAPS are investigating an armed robbery that occurred at a shop in Fielden Drive, Glenmore on Monday, 5 October. 

According to Capt Pumzile Makaula from Umbilo SAPS, at around noon, two men entered the shop and pointed firearms at the staff, demanding money. 

“They took cash and after one of the staff activated the alarm, they ran away.”

“They then jumped into a white Nissan Almera that was parked outside on the road and drove off. No shots were fired and there were no injuries,” she said.

She said the Umbilo SAPS Task Team, which was in the area, gave chase.

The suspects fired shots towards the police vehicle, damaging the right headlight of the vehicle.

“No injuries were reported and no arrests have been made at this stage,” she said.
