Suspects nabbed for attempted murder and kidnapping in Durban

Durban Central management commended the officers for their swift reaction and perseverance that resulted in saving the victim's life.

SUSPECTS arrested by Durban Central SAPS for attempted murder, kidnapping and possession of a dangerous weapon, will make their first appearance in Durban Magistrates Court today (Tuesday, 29 September).

This comes after an incident on 27 September at around 11.45pm, when police officers responded to a complaint of a kidnapping in progress on Diakonia Avenue.

“Upon arrival officers were informed by members of the public that three men had stabbed another man, and then jumped into a Hyundai vehicle and fled the scene,” said Sgt Zanele Khomo from Durban Central SAPS.

She said officers patrolled the area looking for the vehicle.

On 28 September at about 12.30am, police spotted the vehicle in St George’s Street in the Durban CBD.

“Officers approached the vehicle and saw four men inside, one was bleeding profusely and asking for help,” said Khomo.

The other three men were arrested while the victim, who had been stabbed, was transported to hospital.

Police also recovered two okapi knives and the motive for the stabbing is unknown at this stage.
