Man arrested following Umbilo armed robbery

Police are still following leads regarding the other two suspects involved in the case.

UMBILO SAPS officers arrested a man for armed robbery on 11 September.

According to Capt Pumzile Makaula from Umbilo SAPS communications, at around 1.45pm, a shop owner was in his store in Gale Street when three men entered.

“The men pointed a 9mm pistol at the man, and demanded cash. They took a Samsung cellphone, airtime machine, PVR recorder and cash and fled the scene,” she said.

Police officers from Umbilo arrived on the scene just after the suspects fled, and they were given the description of the men.

“The officers gave chase, and one of the suspects was apprehended. A 9mm gas pistol and the PVR were recovered. Members are still following leads regarding the other two suspects,” she said.
