This comes after the store was accused of selling zebra meat.

In a statement, Emam Bux claimed rival meat companies were responsible for the allegations.

A social media post alleged that zebra carcasses, which were being transported by a truck that overturned while on its way to its destination, belonged to Emam Bux.

“Our company takes a strong view of this misleading post and wish to reassure our loyal customers that Emam Bux does not sell zebra meat. The post in question is the work of a disgruntled opponent in the meat industry who cannot compete with our affordable prices and quality meat,” read the statement.

“Hestony is a transport company that we use to transport our meat but they also transport products for other companies too. The post is malicious and designed to tarnish our good reputation in the market. It is nonsensical because the pictures have been grouped together to convey a distorted view.”

According to Logistic Refrigerated Services at Hestony, the truck in question was loaded in Limpopo and was en-route to a client in the Eastern Cape when there were was an accident on the N12 near Kimberley.
