Get your pets microchipped

The importance of microchipping pets is to ensure they are reunited with their owners if they are found.

UMBILO CPF chair, Heather Roos, is urging residents to have their pets microchipped on Saturday, 29 August at 197 Brand Road, Glenwood, from 9am to 11am. Roos said too many pets were getting lost in the area, and when pets are found there is no way of finding the owners.

“This is so important if you are a pet owner. There is a huge concern in our community regarding the number of pets missing, seen running around on the roads, or found, yet there is no way of finding out who the owners are. I urge people to support this drive,” she said.

The importance of microchipping pets is to ensure they are reunited with their owners if they are found. A dog is 2.4 times more likely to make it home if it is microchipped and a cat is 21.4 times more likely to be returned to its owner.

The microchipping will be done on site in Brand Road and the cost is R165. House calls are also available.
