Strike action leads to postal delays with municipal bills

Customers are advised that Durmail has temporarily shut down operations and this will cause a delay in the posting of utility bills.

ETHEKWINI Municipality has informed customers that there may be a delay in receipt of their monthly billing via post due to strike action by Durmail.

Customers have therefore been urged to use their last billing received to make payment to avoid becoming subject to Council’s Credit Control Policy, resulting in the levying of interest/penalty charges, the cut-off of services or legal recovery action.

Customers are encouraged to register to receive their bill by email via https://eservices.durban.gov.za/frmHome.aspx to make payments and to check account balances.

The municipality said one of the following methods can be used to make payments:

Call in: Go to any one of the Customer Service Centres and pay, particularly if you are already late with your payment. Customer Service Centres open at 9am as opposed to 7.30am on every third Wednesday of the month and the Florence Mkhize Building Customer Centre on every second Wednesday of the month.

By credit/debit card: This facility is available at all Easy Pay out lets and through the municipality’s website. Card payments are limited to R2500 per account per month.
