18 years of service to seafarers in Durban

THE Sailors’ Society has congratulated Rev Boet van Schalkwyk and his wife Linda, who celebrated 18 years with the Sailors’ Society in Durban this month.

Boet is principal chaplain and co-ordinator of Crisis Response Africa and Linda is secretary of the Sailors’ Society SA.

Boet was the port chaplain for seven years in East London prior to him accepting a call to Centurion where he spent seven and a half years. Thereafter he moved to Durban in 2002.

Yvonne de Kock from the Sailors’ Society said: “Much has been achieved during their term of office in Durban; amongst others, the most important being the establishment of the Crisis Response Network. We thank them for their dedication, energy and tireless work they are doing.”
