WENTWORTH Angels is appealing for help to enable the organisation to assist people affected by poverty, single parent households and unemployment.
Tracey Williams said unemployment has risen in communities and youths and adults were resorting to prostitution, theft, and selling drugs to provide a meal for their families.
“We are an organisation that assists these disadvantaged homes and tries in every way possible to assist them with bare necessities monthly, so families can receive nutrition. Currently, with the cost of everything rising as we are on lockdown, we have opened a soup kitchen where we cook and serve a hot meal seven days a week,” said Tracey.

She said the organisation is not looking for cash donations, but ingredients to assist with day-to-day cooking. “The spices for a week alone cost us an average of R2 000. We serve healthy nutritional meals. I firmly believe that we must serve what we would eat. Our request is for the public to assist us with ingredients to help us make sure that the elderly and children in the community do not go to bed hungry. We appreciated any assistance as most of the sponsors are going through a challenging time with their businesses or companies being closed during lockdown,” she said.
