Florida Road UIP welcomes new precinct manager

Andrew Fynn joins the Florida Road UIP with a wealth of experience in the security industry and as assistant precinct manager at the uMhlanga Rocks UIP.

THE Florida Road Urban Improvement Precinct (FRUIP) has welcomed Andrew Fynn to the Florida Road family as the new UIP precinct manager.

Andrew joins the UIP with a wealth of experience in the security industry and more recently as the previous assistant precinct manager at the uMhlanga Rocks UIP.

Andrew worked as a confectioner for Spar Group for two years following which he entered the security industry with Marshall Security.

His work on UIPs started when he was originally contracted to the uMhlanga UIP as the senior security supervisor in early 2018.

“I worked closely with the precinct manager for the next two years. At the end of 2019 I was offered the position as assistant precinct manager, which began my exciting journey in urban management,” he said.

He said he was pleased about his move to Florida Road and his new position.

“I am very excited about this new challenge. My time spent with the uMhlanga UIP introduced me to precinct management and ignited my passion for urban management and what can be achieved through the collective involvement and support of a community,” he said.

Speaking about his plans for the precinct, Andrew said that although the Covid-19 pandemic and subsequent lockdown have temporarily stalled a number of projects, they were working closely with the eThekwini Municipality and relevant stakeholders to ensure that the UIP gets back on track as soon as possible.

“The Complete Streets plan, which looks to address the much needed structural upgrades to Florida Road and the broader precinct plan, are both projects we aim to reignite,” he commented.

On a personal note, Andrew is happily married with a daughter and son who are both in high school, and in his spare time, he loves to bake, run, do karate and spend time with his family.

Outgoing precinct manager, Jarrod Evans, will continue in a senior management role within the UIP.
“I’d like to thank all property owners and tenants for their support and commitment to the FRUIP over the past five years. It truly has been a pleasure getting to know you all and an incredible experience seeing Florida Road grow into the thriving urban hub it is today thanks to your efforts. This is certainly not a goodbye as I’ll be very much involved with oversight of the UIP going forward.”

The FRUIP management team will be working closely with Andrew in the coming months, ensuring a smooth handover.
