Artist required for Durban NPO’s mural

A graffiti or mural artist is encouraged to volunteer to paint a mural on the wall next to the hut, as well as the hut itself at Cottage Flowers' premises.

COTTAGE Flowers, a fundraising initiative which has been in operation at Stellawood Cemetery selling flowers since 1965, is looking for an artist who would be willing to help spruce up its premises.

The flower-selling initiative is housed at the entrance of the cemetery and takes up a space that includes a wooden hut.

“With our new name, and what feels like our new lease on life after being able to open again following lockdown restrictions, we are now looking for someone to help brighten up our space, which is pretty dark and dreary,” said Louisa Hitchcock from Cottage Flowers.

She said they would appreciate it if a local graffiti or mural artist would volunteer, pro bono, to paint a mural on the wall next to the hut, as well as the hut itself.

“As we have not been able to make much of an income this year, we aren’t able to pay anyone, but would be so pleased if an artist would be willing to paint a mural which is in keeping with what we do, something floral,” she said.

If anyone is interested in this community project, they should contact the secretary, May van der Merwe, on 082 922 6436 or email: mayvdm@telkomsa.net.
