Charity starts at home

‘Beast’ Mtawarira started a food parcel initiative to support people affected by Covid-19.

FIDELITY Ambassador, Tendai ‘Beast’ Mtawarira, initiated a food parcel project to support the Fidelity Services Group staff members most affected by the Covid-19 pandemic.

District manager for Fidelity ADT in KwaZulu-Natal, Vaughan Pillay, was delighted with the initiative and thanked ‘Beast’ for taking the time to support those in need.

The company invited 200 staff to their head office where they received food parcels and other goods from the popular sports star.

Beast is passionate about giving back to those in need and has made it clear that he plans to be involved in similar initiatives with the Fidelity Services Group going forward.

“I have been more actively involved in the day-to-day operations at Fidelity since taking time away from rugby. This has allowed me to identify potential needs during the pandemic. We decided to take this opportunity to support our Durban colleagues. The idea is to further extend this charitable reach by getting involved with other outside organisations through Fidelity. We also have a Fidelity Foundation which has been doing wonderful charity work over the last few years and I will be working closely with them to see how we can help further,” said Beast.

In addition to receiving food hampers to support their families and positive encouragement from Beast, staff were also given advice from ER24 on how to stay protected from the virus and the appropriate safety measures to take for their safety and that of their families.
