Ambassadors return to Glenwood streets

The UIP office is open and the emergency line is fully operational.

DESPITE lockdown and economic challenges, the Glenwood UIP is still doing its utmost to provide services to the Glenwood area.

Glenwood UIP manager, Brig Vernon Stokes, said during level five and four lockdown in April and May, the Ambassadors were not able to work, and this service had been substituted by five security guards and the 24 hour patrol vehicle.

“We are pleased that during level three lockdown, the Ambassadors have been able to report back to work, and have been on the street, although in fewer numbers. The 24 hour security contingent is also still in operation in the area,” said Stokes.

“We are pleased to be back as we have established a strong link with Parks and Recreation and will be pursuing how we can ensure Bulwer Park and others in the precinct can receive regular attention in their general upkeep and to uplift these public areas,” he said.

Stokes said the UIP had provided a service in accordance with budgetary constraints during this period and was confident that the UIP would be able to upscale its services through the latter half of the year accordingly.

Vernon Stokes awards March’s top achieving Ambassador Anthony Vusi Zulu.

“We hope things will improve out there, which will enable the UIP to improve its service delivery,” he said.

The UIP office is open and the emergency line is fully operational.

The Glenwood UIP Hotline number is 0861 888 443.
