CROW calls for donations as lockdown hits income
The Centre for Rehabilitation of Wildlife has continued its efforts to rescue and rehabilitate wildlife during the national lockdown.
THE Covid-19 outbreak and nationwide lockdown has had a devastating financial impact on the Centre for Rehabilitation of Wildlife (CROW). As an essential service provider, CROW has continued to operate throughout the lockdown.

While operational costs have remained the same, their income has suffered, said CROW directer, Clint Halkett-Sidall.
“We have had to cancel all of our events, one of which was our 40th anniversary. We had planned a black tie gala dinner which was expected to raise R260 000,” said Halkett-Sidall.
CROW’s school tours and international volunteer programmes have also been cancelled due to the pandemic, leaving the centre on the brink of a financial crisis, added Halkett-Sidall.

In a bid to keep the centre afloat, CROW has launched a fundraising relief fund on GivenGain.
CROW is calling on the community to donate toward their work as they offer care and rehabilitation to wildlife.

Another fundraiser at CROW is their annual calendar campaign.
“Every year for last 10 years we have run the Compass Cares campaign. Corporates can sponsor one of 14 pages in the calendar. This year we will also have one page open to the public. People can donate R50 to have their name featured on the page. We are hoping to get 300 people together to sponsor the page,” said Halkett Sidall.
