The clinic provides free primary health care and voluntary counselling and testing (VCT) for people in the Warwick Triangle area. The job entails working as part of a team with experienced nurses, community counsellors, and part-time co-workers including a doctor, and other volunteer nurses and doctors visiting from overseas. The clinic sees about 100 people per day, many of them living on the margins of society such as homeless people and drug users. Quite a large group are mothers with young children and about 15 per cent of patients are aged under five. Over 40 per cent of patients are refugees and so a willingness and ability to work with this community is important.

In addition to consultations in the clinic, the successful candidate will also participate in community outreach healthcare for homeless people on the streets of the Point and Dalton. Requirements are that an applicant is a professional (registered) nurse with primary healthcare experience, has a minimum of five year’s professional experience, is currently registered with the SA Nursing Council, has a dispensing licence or certificate and is committed to the ethos and values of the Denis Hurley Centre.

Deadline for applications is 9am on Monday, 15 June. Email leanne@denishurleycentre.org. Do not just send a CV.
