Berea business robbery averted
The guard ran to the rear of the property, locked himself inside a toilet and activated his panic button.
THE quick-thinking of an on-site security guard averted an armed robbery in Berea on Wednesday morning.
According to Blue Security, a security guard on the business property noticed a car pull up outside the building and the occupants, who were armed, approached him.

Reacting quickly, the guard ran to the rear of the property, locked himself inside a toilet and activated his panic button.
The suspects proceeded to derail the gate and entered the premises making their way to the front door.
However, they were unable to force the front door open and fled empty-handed in a getaway vehicle.
SAPS and backup security resources arrived soon after.
