A MAN and woman appeared in the Durban Specialised Commercial Crime Court on Thursday, on charges of defrauding the KZN Department of Transport.
The accused briefly appeared in the court facing charges of fraud and corruption after they allegedly submitted fraudulent claims to the KwaZulu-Natal Department of Transport.
It is alleged that they claimed an amount of R1.8 million for a road construction in 2013 that was never carried out.

They were arrested by Hawks members from Durban Serious Corruption Investigation Unit on Wednesday.
The pair was granted R5 000 bail pending their next court appearance on 15 October.
The investigation is still ongoing and additional arrests have not been ruled out.
