UKZN, DUT prepare for online learning

The University of KwaZulu-Natal has already given out 40 gigs of data bundles to all their students.

DURBAN universities are preparing to roll-out online learning.

From the 1st of June, universities will be able to start online learning according to a mandate set-down by the Department of Higher Education and Training.

The University of KwaZulu-Natal has already given out 40 gigs of data bundles to all their students. In addition, UKZN has also loaned out laptops to some students.

“The interventions we have embarked on, include alternative means of tuition involving mainly blended learning, with learning content made available to all students by means of online and offline learning, to also accommodate students who don’t have access to the internet,” said Normah Zondo, UKZN’s Acting Executive Director of Corporate Relations.

The Durban University of Technology announced that some of their post-graduate and health sciences students will be gradually welcomed back on their campuses as restrictions are eased.

Both DUT and UKZN have come up with an online questionnaire, the Workplace Medical Passport, that will determine whether persons are allowed entry into their campuses.
