Two suspects found with bloodstained knife in Umbilo

The driver was found with the unlicensed firearm while the passenger had the bloodstained knife.

A BLOODSTAINED knife and an unlicensed firearm was found on two Congolese suspects in Umbilo.

The Umbilo SAPS Crime Prevention Unit was patrolling in the area when they came across a white Mazda etude on Umbilo Road with two passengers inside.

“Something about the vehicle looked suspicious and they tried to stop the vehicle. It is alleged that the vehicle did not stop but sped off, hitting red robots. The police gave chase and cornered the suspects on Magwaza Maphalala road,” said a police statement.

The driver was found with the unlicensed firearm while the passenger had the bloodstained knife. The suspects were aged 23 and 30.

They have been detained and charged with possession of an unlicensed firearm, possession of unlawful ammunition and the contravention of the disaster management act (Covid 19).
