Durban Municipality opens promenade under strict conditions

The promenade will be open between 6am and 9am to residents who live within a 5km radius of the facility.

ETHEKWINI Municipality has had a change of heart over its decision to close the promenade to the public.

In a second media release on Saturday Mandle Nsele, acting head of Communications for eThekwini Municipality said it had commenced with a deep cleaning and sanitisation  of the entire promenade facility to ensure public safety.

As a result,  the promenade would be opened for public use under strict conditions, but only to those who live within a 5km radius of the facility and only between 6am and 9am.

Other public spaces including ablution facilities will remain closed until further notice.

Law enforcement will monitor all activities allowed under level 4 closely and will not hesitate to deal with non-compliant members.

The municipality appealed to all residents to comply with level 4 lockdown regulations and urged them to wear a mask and practice social distancing when leaving home.
