A wonderful video was sent to the Berea Mail showing the staff standing in the grounds at Garden Grove, singing as it grew dark.

Commenting on the video, manager, Terry Sterling, said this was a positive which has come out of a very difficult time.

“A number of residents’ overseas families, children and grandchildren, confirmed that they tested positive for coronavirus, and our biggest challenge was getting the elderly residents to have faith in us when we wanted to lock the building down. Many angry people had to miss hairdresser and nail appointments, and medical and shopping outings were all cancelled. Plus residents not having their children to visit has been very tough,” said Terry.

He said 77 staff were currently staying in empty flats and sleeping on mattresses, under tough living conditions, during lockdown, and treated residents to singing as they finish their shifts.

“We are so grateful for their commitment and love towards taking care of our 151 residents,” said Terry.
