Mitigating the economic impact of coronavirus

StreetLit booksellers are especially affected since all the venues where they would usually be selling will be closed.

THE Denis Hurley Centre is appealing to the public to keep in touch with them regarding any events where their StreetLit booksellers could sell books to make a living.

Raymond Perrier from Denis Hurley Centre said almost all the events that had recently been advertised including plays, concerts, and festivals have been cancelled, and this will have a major impact on the financial health of many artists and arts organisations and also result in a loss of fundraising for schools and NGOs.

“Our StreetLit booksellers are especially affected since all the venues where they would usually be selling will be closed. But people will have more time to read books. So, since theyare still be going to supermarkets and enjoying time, at a distance, in the parks, we are working to set up selling opportunities in those places, armed, as above, with hand sanitiser, gloves and wet wipes. We encourage people to let us know if they have any bookselling opportunities,” he said.
