Shoplifter linked to housebreakings arrested in Glenmore

The arrest occurred after the man was spotted eating a store item which had not been paid for.

A SUSPECT linked to housebreaking incidents in the area, was arrested for shoplifting in Glenmore on Thursday.

“The arrest occurred after the man was spotted eating a store item which had not been paid for, outside a supermarket in Glenmore,” said Blue Security’s Andreas Mathios.

He said a confrontation occurred between the store owner and the suspect after the man had been seen putting items in his pockets and leaving the premises without paying for them.

“A reaction officer responded to a call out and, after receiving a description of the suspect, set off in search of the man,” Mathios said.

The suspect was spotted about 300 metres away from the store and quickly arrested. Further investigations revealed that he is linked to housebreaking incidents in the area.

“The suspect was handed over to members of Umbilo SAPS,” Mathios said.
